Evidence of Prayer at work?
I do seriously believe in the power of prayer and that is why I’m advocating here that we should not only talk, discuss and ‘do our bits’, with the situation in our country, but that we should all come together to pray for our nation more than we do at the moment and I believe we can do both (talk, discuss, admonish, chastise each other and pray) at the same time.
Not just add prayer to the Church event or program list but to make it a point of focus and that we become consistent with this. The bottom line here is that if we all start to identify areas that we can improve, and then pray and prayerfully do our bits; we would soon be collectively rewarded as we would soon be seeing a better society that people can live and bring others to join them.
Proof or what?
“Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the One who hears it and not in the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference”
It’s time to pray – together!
I know and believe that a change is possible if we all pray as I have noticed some patterns in the past few years (2014 to date) that when things had got so ‘taut’ in Nigeria, and there had been calls to prayer from all corners of the country and beyond (both within and outside of the country), that things sizzled down after we all prayed and that got me thinking that if we were to persist and pray regularly for our nation, at every meeting and gathering, I believe that before we know it, we will start to notice pleasant changes and surprises to us all both individually and collectively and I am of the opinion that the nation would be changed for good!
There are so many instances in the Bible, where people came together and prayed for their nation. GOD even asked us to come to him in prayer for our nation:
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land – Chronicles 7:14 KJV”
So let us take GOD up on HIS words and go to HIM regularly in prayer for our nation like the instance cited below and cry:
“O our God……., we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee. 2 Chronicles 20:12 KJV”
As the Bible tells us that:
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” Ephesians 6:12 KJV
Let us act as people of the Bible did:
“So the people of Nineveh…, proclaimed a fast …from the greatest of them even to the least of them…” (Jonah 3:5), and the end result? see verse 10.
And lastly, let us embrace Nehemiah’s style and technique. In Nehemiah 4: 16 – 18, we read that people worked with one hand and fought with the other hand while building the walls of Jerusalem. Let us therefore with ‘one hand’ discuss, challenge, agree, amend our ways etc. and with ‘the other hand’ pray collectively, regularly for our nation, for us and the future generation and change our society and probably the world.
